This page explains what data Geluidsbord.be processes, why, and what your rights are. We collect as little as possible: you don't need an account to use the site.

Who is responsible?

Geluidsbord.be is run by Dries Van Damme. For privacy questions or to exercise your rights, reach us through the contact form.

What data do we process?

Contact form

When you send us a message, we store the message and, if you fill them in, your name and email address. We only use them to reply to and handle your message, and delete them once they are no longer needed. Your email address is never shown publicly.

Uploading sound fragments

When you upload a fragment, we store the audio file, its description, the character and any name you enter. That name is shown publicly next to the fragment; leave the field empty to stay anonymous.

Technical data

Like any website, our web server records technical data such as your IP address, the time and the page requested. This is used for security and troubleshooting, not to track you.

Cookies

Essential cookies

We use one functional session cookie (PHPSESSID). It remembers your language and protects forms against abuse. The site needs it to work; it holds no advertising data and is removed when you close your browser.

Advertising cookies (Google AdSense)

Geluidsbord.be is free and funded by ads from Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.

Visitors from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland see a consent dialog on their first visit. Personalised ads are only shown if you consent. If you decline, Google may still show non-personalised ads based on the content of the page.

You can change your choice at any time through Privacy settings at the bottom of every page. You can also opt out of personalised advertising by Google in Google's Ads Settings, or from other vendors at youronlinechoices.eu.

Analytics cookies (Google Analytics)

We use Google Analytics to measure how the site is used, for example which pages and shows are most popular, so we can improve it. We don't use this data to identify individual visitors. Google Analytics only sets cookies (such as _ga) after you consent in the consent dialog. Without consent, the site only sends anonymous, cookieless signals that Google cannot link to you. You can change your choice at any time through Privacy settings.

Third-party services

• Google AdSense (Google Ireland Ltd.): ads and the consent dialog, see above.
• Google Analytics (Google Ireland Ltd.): visitor statistics, see above.
• TMDB (image.tmdb.org): some show images are loaded directly from The Movie Database, which means your IP address is visible to that server.

Some of these parties may process data outside the European Union. They do so under appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

Legal basis

We process data based on your consent (advertising and analytics cookies, and anything you choose to enter in the contact or upload form) and on our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure and working (session cookie, server logs).

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct or delete your data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to withdraw consent you have given. Contact us through the contact form to do so.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can file a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority.

Changes

We may update this policy, for example when the site gets new features. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
